The Welton History Group’s aim is to bring local history to life in a compelling and informative way, whilst making it accessible to as many people as possible.
This website centres on our initiative to gather and safeguard Welton’s historical knowledge, but the group has a broader remit.
We hold regular meetings with talks focused around the geographic area of Northamptonshire. These take place in the village hall (and sometimes the White Horse pub) with a small charge per head to cover room hire and speaker costs, currently £5 a head.
Past subjects include Northampton in the Middle Ages, the development of the BBC with a focus on Daventry’s importance, and medieval medicine.
We organise trips out and research historically based events that we communicate to our subscribers, as well as participating in local events such as Daventry’s Heritage Day. The History Group holds a library of books that are available to borrow at no cost.
